Saint Peter's is seeking a positive, collaborative nurse leader to manage a great team in our Metabolic Unit.

The primary responsibility of this role is to assess, plan and evaluate patient care on a 24-hour basis for a specific service line/unit or units. The Nurse Manager has the authority and responsibility for implementing hospital unit standards, policies, and procedures and will be accountable for quality and safety, service excellence, staff performance/employee satisfaction, and budgetary responsibility within their scope of responsibility.

You will:

  • Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of nursing regime for a specific unit/service line
  • Assess the quality of care rendered on a daily basis by patient rounds, patient conferences, reviewing documentation in the patient record, listening to report and observing direct patient care provided by staff
  • Provide input to the Divisional Director and Chief Nursing Officer for the development of the goals and objectives of the department of nursing
  • Participate in the development of standards of care, policies and procedures with staff ensuring compliance
  • Develop unit-specific goals and action plans based on specific unit outcomes and results of staff satisfaction
  • Translate evidenced-based practice/nursing research at the point of service and ensure and maintain survey readiness
  • Create an environment that recognizes and values diversity in patients and communities and promote a culture of service excellence, holding staff accountable to the specialty standards
  • Provide constructive performance feedback and evaluate staff performance and promote open communication between nursing administration and nursing staff
  • Develop and monitor the unit budget allowing for the allocation of full-time equivalent positions, capital equipment, and operational expenses

You have:

  • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing; BSN required, Masters preferred
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of progressive leadership in an acute care setting
  • National certification or nursing administrative certification within one year in specialty-specific to care provided, administered by a nationally recognized certification organization
  • BLS certification, as appropriate to the nursing unit, as approved by the American Heart Association. Other certifications (i.e. NRP, PALS, ACLS) as required by the specialty
