Saint Peter's welcomes new graduate nurses!

Our New Graduate Intern program serves as a transition from the school environment to the work environment. During the Internship, you will work with a preceptor 3 (12) hour shifts per week for 8 weeks or longer depending on the unit. At the end of the internship, you may be offered a position on that unit if you have demonstrated the ability to provide safe efficient patient care and can handle a patient care assignment. Internships begin every month.

While demonstrating exceptional customer service and communication skills, the Registered Nurse skillfully administers total patient care based on the individualized needs of assigned patients and families.

This includes:

  • Assesses the health status of assigned patients as outlined in the Nursing Standards.
  • Plans implements and evaluates individualized care based on patient assessment and Multidisciplinary Plan of Care.
  • Ensures all procedures are performed based on established Standards of Care.
  • Administers medications and parenteral therapies in accordance with policy.
  • Documenting all aspects of patient care.
  • Teaches patient/significant other about health/illness and plan of care
  • Being a team player and taking on other responsibilities as needed.


  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • BLS through American Heart Association required
  • Experience with EMR
  • Flexible and willing to work independently
  • Able to work weekends and holidays
